Semiabelian Groups Need Not Be Monomial

October 02, 2026

Abstract

We disprove a conjecture of M. Kida by exhibiting a finite semiabelian group of order 384 that is not monomial. The example is given by GAP’s SmallGroups library as SmallGroup(384, 20127) which is isomorphic to the group ((C2 × ((C2 × Q8) ⋊ C2)) ⋊ C2) ⋊ C3.
