Key Features
Longitudinal and global
This survey is fielded in over 200 geographies, in over 65 languages. Survey waves feature some identical questions, to provide a unique global snapshot over time.Gender insights
All findings are disaggregated for women and men, unveiling patterns and gender gaps on topics like norms, agency, and household care.Designed with experts
The survey was designed with input from gender experts and global partners including the World Bank, UNICEF, Ladysmith, and CARE.Methodology
Step 1: Design questionnaire
We lean on partners like the World Bank and CARE to design questionnaires that fill important gender data gaps. Some questions mirror those asked in phone or household surveys.Step 2: Invite people to take the survey
People on Facebook in hundreds of countries, islands, and territories are invited to take an on-platform survey. They can opt-out at any time, and all questions are optional.Step 3: Apply privacy protections
Before sharing with Data for Good partners, we ensure that all survey data is de-identified. We only share data publicly once it is aggregated to the country or region level.Step 4: Weigh and share results
Results are weighted to represent the online population (not only the Facebook user population) in a country or region, before sharing the de-identified, weighted findings with partners.RESOURCES
