ABOUT THE DATASET

Overview

Key Features

Privacy
We ensure that all survey responses shared with partners are de-identified.
Attitudes and Beliefs
By asking individuals about their knowledge, attitudes, policy preferences, and behaviors, we can learn about how views on climate change vary by geography and demographic group.
Global Reach
Meta is uniquely positioned to support research on climate change at a time when in-person surveys have been dramatically disrupted due to COVID-19 and are costly to conduct at a global scale. The survey was conducted on Facebook in nearly 200 countries and territories.

Methodology

Step 1: Invite people to take survey
People on Facebook are invited to take an on-platform survey that asks about their knowledge, attitudes, policy preferences, and behaviors related to climate change.
Step 2: Collect data and conduct post-survey weighting
To ensure that the survey sample more accurately reflects the characteristics of the population, we assign weights to survey responses, which doesn’t identify anyone but helps correct for sample bias.
Step 3: Aggregate data and publish
Meta aggregates survey responses at a national level and then publishes the data publicly on Humanitarian Data Exchange.
